The Challenge
As a high-traffic international airport, Sharjah Airport faces the common challenges of managing passenger flow, reducing congestion at security checkpoints, and maintaining a safe, stress-free environment—particularly during peak travel times. The airport required a durable, flexible, and visually appealing queue management solution that would help streamline the flow of passengers through their security and passport control area.
With ongoing growth and an evolving terminal layout, the airport also needed a system that could adapt easily to future operational changes, all while reinforcing its strong brand identity.
The Journey
Having collaborated with Sharjah Airport for over a decade, Tensator already had valuable insights into their operational needs and layout. Our team engaged directly with Sharjah Airport to understand the scope of the current project—whether an upgrade to a previously installed area or a new development.
Through site visits, consultations, and layout planning, we developed a solution tailored specifically to the space, flow, and branding requirements. Our collaborative and flexible approach—combined with our expertise in aviation environments—ensured that the solution would integrate seamlessly into the airport’s security checkpoint while providing future-proof adaptability.
The Solution
The final solution featured our market-leading Tensabarrier® posts, each with a 220mm magnetic base for secure yet flexible placement. To enhance both functionality and visual appeal, each post was fitted with 2.3m of custom-printed webbing displaying the Sharjah Airport branding—offering not just guidance but also reinforcing brand identity.
We also integrated post-top signage to further assist passengers in understanding the queue layout and next steps—particularly important in a multi-lingual, fast-moving environment.
